 Gordon S. Wood's work is a historical perspective on the Founding. In my view, his work is an irreconcilable choice between Plato/Aristotle; Idealism/Realism; Synchronic/Diachronic. Both perspectives are correct. Gordon Wood was a trained historian so his perspective was 'historicism'; Strauss and others. . . remain deeply synchronic with profoundly deep philosophical tenets seemingly opposite Gordon Wood's perspective; this isn't entirely the case. Wood's work as not strongly philosophical, more historical in its reach.
